Great refresher course for us 50 year olds, seems I understood the necessity of wise use of time and money in my earlier days when the house was full. On a side-note, I could have used this in college =)
This book is a quick read that is packed with uber useful information for folks of all ages. The Sykes' give great advice on how to eat (real food) on a budget. I would have saved so much money by using these quick cooking tips instead of ordering from the drive thru at Mc Donalds. Yes, this teaches you how to eat real, tasty meals for less than the cost of fast food. Save money and calories. Read this book!
This would be a great gift to a young home starter or an older one who hasn't already acquired the habit of economical food choices. An easy read filled with practical, money saving advice.
I liked the emphasis on the whole grain versions of food and use of leftovers. Also suggestions on an appetizing way to eat apples. I was pleased that this did not contain loads of unhealthy dessert recipes. I don't cook deserts, I eat fruit so my thoughts were in line with this book.
Advice to use honey for sweetening is sound as it is twice as sweet as refined sugar, you need less, and it is a lot healthier for you.
I can see people saving money on health costs, as well as food purchases, if they follow much of the advice in this book.
